Bulawayo - Touched by the plight of the elderly at Entembeni Old People’s Home, Ward 27

Community Action Team (CAT) members have donated groceries to the institution.

The four value-addition cooking trainees, who extended the generous gesture to the institution, are Otilia Mkandla, Silibaziso Torevasei, Rosemary Tshuma and Simbisai Ndlovu.

The donated goods include 4 kilogrammes of sugar, 2 kilogrammes of flour and a bar of green soap.

Meanwhile the participants drawn, from Wards 15, 19, 21 and 27, also donated all products cooked during their last cooking class at the home.

Entembeni’s matron, Jesca Matavire, pictured receiving the groceries, paid tribute to the good Samaritans.

“We are so excited about this donation; it shows that members of the public have not abandoned and forgotten,” said Matavire.

She added, they will forever remain grateful to community members who continue to support them.

Liz and Yvonne, facilitators of the ZDDT programme to add value to the trust’s various community gardens, also later donated granadilla plants to the women.

Entembeni Old People’s Home houses a total of 36 oldies, 26 of whom are males and 10 females.
