Greening programme boosted as ZDDT takes delivery of protective equipment

The equipment, that includes overalls, will be worn by City Council workers involved in activities in the second phase of a ZDDT initiated greening campaign, supported by The German Government in conjunction with humanitarian agency GIZ. This phase moves on from cleaning, planting trees and establishing nutritional gardens, to cutting grass and clearing brush in the City’s various parks, open spaces, road verges and islands.

It will also involve rehabilitating aging and dilapidated public lighting systems. The cleaning component from the first phase will be retained in the second.

The delivery is the first batch of purchases representing a larger order. Commenting on this, Mr. Shirto said, “What you see here is just the first lot in a much bigger order which we hope to process as quickly as is possible.”
