Bulawayo City Parks and Cleansing Services officers meet with ZDDT

Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – Senior officers from the City’s Parks and Cleansing Departments recently met with Team ZDDT, in order to map out activities that will signify commencement of the next phase of the Trust’s Local Authority Capacity Building Programme.

Participants at the meeting identified key spots along the City’s busiest thoroughfares, where grass-cutting equipment donated to the City by the Trust, will be demonstrated under highly visible conditions.

The areas that were identified are mostly characterised by overgrown grass and bushes. These will be tidied through the removal of rubble, cutting of grass and removal of litter. It is envisaged that from thence, work teams from the relevant City Departments will utilise the equipment in restoring parks, stadia and common areas that have become an eyesore in the past decade.

The planned demonstrations are intended to indicate to the public that positive action is taking place in the heart of local communities, leading to the enhancement of service delivery systems.

Development partner GIZ with the cooperation of the German Government is the Programme’s funder.
