Unilever Zim to resume exports


This week we look at the increasing productivity in local industry as Unilever Zimbabwe said it is set to resume exports into the region at the end of the year. The company was forced to abandon exports in the 1990s due to the economic challenges that the country was going through. Unilever Zimbabwe managing director Nancy Guzha said the company’s local production had increased to allow a resumption of exports into the region – Herald, Wednesday February 6.

EIB to inject $135 mln in Zim’s SMEs


In a development set to boost the local business fraternity, the European Investment Bank will inject nearly $135 mln into Zimbabwe’s Small and Medium Enterprises sector, which has become a major employer in the economy.

Mimosa production up 4%


Furthermore Zimbabwe's second largest platinum miner, Mimosa Mining Company’s half-year production to December 31, 2012 rose 4% from the corresponding period a year earlier to 1.23 mln tonnes, but revenue declined due to depressed metal prices. Turnover fell 13% to $127 mln, Aquarius Platinum - a majority shareholder in Mimosa - said last week – Herald, Tuesday February 12.
