What started as a simple community initiative is quickly turning into a source of hope and opportunity for the women of Sizinda Green Gardens, as members continue finding creative ways to grow their income and strengthen unity within the project.
The aroma of freshly prepared Isitshwala and chicken filled the air at Sizinda Green Gardens as the committee launched its first-ever cooked food sale, drawing excitement and support from the local community.
Selling meals at just US$1 per plate, the committee managed to sell at least 40 plates on their debut day, marking a promising step toward income generation and sustainability for the garden project.
Committee members worked together from the early hours of the day preparing the traditional meals, serving customers who gathered in large numbers to support the initiative.
The successful food sale, not only boosted morale among the gardeners, but also demonstrated the potential of diversifying their activities beyond crop production.
Members expressed optimism that the initiative would grow into a regular business venture capable of supporting garden operations and improving livelihoods for the women involved.
