Growing Knowledge, Growing Profits: Agritex Empowers Sizinda Green Gardeners

A visit meant to strengthen farming knowledge left members of the Sizinda Green Gardens inspired and better equipped with practical skills to improve production, protect their crops, and unlock new income opportunities through smarter agricultural practices.

Members of the Sizinda Green Gardens project received valuable agricultural training during a visit by officers from AGRITEX who shared practical knowledge aimed at improving productivity and increasing income for the community garden.

The officers taught members crop management techniques such as proper spacing, watering, and maintaining healthy soil, while also guiding farmers on pest management and recommending suitable pesticides to control common crop pests affecting their produce.

The training also encouraged gardeners to venture into cash crop farming in order to increase the value of the garden and improve household incomes through market-oriented production.

In addition, members received lessons on poultry management, where the officers stressed the importance of monitoring bird health and conducting autopsies after recording mortalities to help identify causes of death and prevent further losses.

Garden members welcomed the training, saying the lessons would help strengthen both their crop and poultry projects.
