Greenfield market garden members are embracing innovative food-processing techniques to maximise the value of their freshly harvested produce and unlock new income-generating opportunities.

Through the Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust’s (ZDDT) Chefs Academy, a value addition initiative, the gardeners are gaining practical skills to creatively transform nutritious vegetables into delicious, marketable products.

Greenfield market garden members enthusiastically participated in a practical, hands-on training session led by Mrs Van, where they learned to prepare delicious pumpkin vetkoeks as part of ZDDT’s value addition initiative.

The interactive session creatively demonstrated how freshly harvested pumpkins could be transformed into tasty, marketable products, equipping gardeners with valuable culinary skills to diversify their produce, minimise post-harvest losses and unlock exciting income-generating opportunities while strengthening their livelihoods through innovative food processing.
