Freight Consultants reach out and help Bulawayo's needy

Bulawayo based Freight Consultants are Customs Clearing, Shipping and Forwarding agents and local representatives for the Mediterranean Shipping Company offering worldwide competitive air and sea freight rates.

The company applauded ZDDT for the initiative saying, “It’s a very noble idea in that we (businesses) get to support the community in which we operate.”

“It is a small contribution as business is tough at the moment but it is worth it for members of the community to get support from us who are still able to help,” said Mr PJ Sibanda, Freight Consultants Imports Manager.

He extended a challenge to the local business fraternity to respond to the call by ZDDT and its partners to help alleviate poverty and establish a positive relationship with the community through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.

“This is a response to ZDDT’s call to alleviate poverty and I would also like to take this opportunity to challenge the business community of Bulawayo to follow suit and help the suffering within the communities,” said Mr Sibanda.

Mrs Sophie Ncube (79) and husband (98) are impoverished and have little or no assistance from their extended family and their predicament was brought to the attention of the Councillor. They will buy food and pay rent with the donation.

Mrs Ncube depends on the community to assist her with food as all their children have passed away and therefore there is no bread winner in that family.

Cllr N Dladla identified them as beneficiaries also due to the fact that they are one of the elders of the community and therefore they should benefit from the community that often looks up to them for advice on life.

BSCS is a plea by the Trust to businesses to pay back the community by monthly donations that will be handed over to worthy beneficiaries who have been identified and vetted by Councillors and Community Action Teams.

Freight Consultants has joined the scheme to become a committed regular donor demonstrating their pledge to the principle of CSR.
