Students from Geraldine Roche Arts Academy (GRAA) recently had the opportunity to perform a moving drama at the Luveve Youth Centre, joining forces with organizations such as ZRP, the Ministry of Health Counselling Department and several NGOs.

Under the theme “Mental health matters! Let’s break the stigma and talk about it,” the GRAA students captivated the audience with a heartfelt production that shed light on the rising suicide rates in the city. Their decision to tackle this sensitive subject was inspired by a growing concern for their peers and community members silently battling mental health challenges.

“This performance is our way of saying: you are not alone in this struggle,” said one of the student actors. “We want to encourage everyone to reach out, talk to someone and support one another.”

The event served as a vital reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health.

Through their creative expression, the GRAA students sparked meaningful conversations and helped reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness, proving that art can be a powerful catalyst for positive change.
