A fresh group of emerging performers has taken its first confident steps into the world of theatre, launching their training with energetic practical sessions and inspiring guidance that hint at an exciting journey ahead.

The first training session for the GRAA Level 1 first intake of 2026 kicked off energetically, setting an inspiring tone for the months ahead.

Trainees eagerly engaged in a vigorous fitness practical led by Malcom, who confidently guided them through dynamic exercises designed to build stamina, discipline, and physical awareness essential for stage performance.

The atmosphere was lively and focused, with participants enthusiastically pushing their limits as they warmed up both body and mind for the creative work ahead.

The session smoothly transitioned into an immersive theatre workshop facilitated by Thando Ndlovu from the Bulawayo Theatre, who thoughtfully unpacked the fundamentals of acting and stage management.

With clarity and passion, she explored what it truly means to act, emphasising presence, intention, and storytelling.

She then led an imaginative, practical exercise that encouraged students to creatively tap into their emotions, visualise scenarios, and respond authentically on stage.

The engaging session sparked curiosity and confidence among the trainees, leaving them motivated and eager to further develop their theatrical skills in their quest to graduate at year end.
