The launch of Shadows Media, a dynamic new media company incubated under the Geraldine Roche Arts Academy (GRAA), marks a bold step toward sustainability, innovation, and youth-led enterprise.
Born out of GRAA’s commitment to transforming creative skills into viable livelihoods, Shadows Media was established as a business initiative designed to generate income for the arts academy while creating meaningful employment for trained graduates.
The company enters the media landscape with a clear vision to deliver professional, creative, and socially responsive content, while reinforcing GRAA’s long-term sustainability strategy.
At launch, Shadows Media has already employed seven staff members, among them ZDDT’s Malcolm and Mazwe, who will devote their spare time, demonstrating strong collaboration within the development and creative sector.
Notably, all employees are graduates of GRAA, with two trained in administration and two specialised in filming, reflecting the academy’s
holistic approach to skills development.
Their transition from trainees to full-time professionals underscores GRAA’s success in nurturing talent that is not only employable, but capable of building and sustaining home-grown enterprises in the creative industry.
