Bulawayo's Deputy Mayor Thanks ZDDT
Speaking during the workshop, the local leader for Ward 5 said the training section was an eye opener that, not only taught them new skills, but also highlighted some commonly practised mistakes and how they can be corrected.
“This training session gave us some insights into aspects that we didn’t realise or even employ in our Full Council Chamber Meetings. I’m sure that, from here, we will all know how to properly conduct ourselves in formal meetings. I will go back to my ward and implement all I have leant here today,” he said.
Ward 24 Chamber Representative, Cllr Gideon Mangena, also reiterated the Deputy Mayor’s sentiments, saying that he also needs his Community Action Team (CAT) to be trained so that it can help him with leadership issues in his area.
“I found this workshop to be very important as it enhances our leadership skills. I would be grateful if my team (CAT) would also receive such training as this would make my duty as a Councillor much easier,” said Cllr Mangena.
This is in line with ZDDT’s objective of engendering servant leadership values by enhancing the Administrative Capacity and Leadership of Local Authorities and Councillors to deliver improved services.
