Business social credit scheme grows momentum
BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe - Whereas prior to February, 2010, presentations of the Business Social Credit Scheme (BSCS) awards had been few and far between, by month’s end the situation had improved phenomenally.
Three presentations took place during the last week alone, and in addition to this one more has successfully been accomplished today; the first this month. With these developments in mind, one may quite easily link such indications towards the favourable continuation of this positive trend.
The BSCS is a ZDDT initiative, in which elected Councillors and their Community Action Teams (CATS), are encouraged to single out an exceptionally needy case in their Wards.
Each person selected then qualifies to receive a cash donation as a means of assistance. The Trust links the need to a donor which, in this case, is a member of the business sector in Bulawayo.
The busy week of award giving began, Monday, 22 February, 2010, when Cllr. Nduna Dladla of Ward 11, received the gift on behalf of the relevant beneficiary from his area. On Tuesday, 23 rd, Cllr.
Norman Thlabani, Ward 26, had his turn to represent his community in this worthy cause, while Ward 19 Councillor, Clyton Zana’s receipt of the donation on Friday, 26 th, wrapped-up the BSCS awards presentations for the month.
First to receive the award for March, 2010, was Deputy Mayor of the City of Bulawayo Cllr. Amen Mpofu, Ward 2, who, in like manner as the other Councillors, thanked ZDDT and all those concerned in ensuring the success of this remarkably wonderful charitable act.
He concluded by noting that the gesture would contribute considerably towards the alleviation of poverty, not only for the recipient’s family, but also ultimately within the community as a whole.
