Bulawayo- Sebenzela-Shandira Zimbabwe, a popular name for Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust’s programme to inspire self-help and develop community owned projects, has received another pat on the back from a local musician.

Vengai Kanhema, known as ‘Vekann’, pictured above, has vowed to support the trust.

“I am pleased to tell the world and Zimbabwe that ZDDT is doing a wonderful job of equipping the underprivileged. In the few days I was in Bulawayo, I managed to visit their projects which I can safely say have become a big source of self-employment,” he said.

Nutritional gardens building the bridges of success out of poverty are but one of the ZDDT interventions.

Both young and old have been extricated from a degree of hunger and poor nutrition, putting food on their tables and extra cash in their pockets.

“I am reliably informed that Ward 27 Women’s nutritional garden members are now suppliers for local vegetable vendors. They have been also helped to rehabilitate their building structure, which will one day be fully operational as a day care centre for their ward.

All this is the hand of ZDDT which, in my own view and thinking , is an eye opener to many Zimbabweans who would want to see development taking place without waiting for government, but also complimenting other people’s efforts of nation building,” said Vekann. The well renowned musician, who visited Bulawayo after reading about the projects from the trust’s website, promised to support ZDDT in all their work and went on to say that he will compose a song for the organisation in honour of their hard work and inspiration.
