The Mandlakhe Community Market Garden has been experiencing a steady increase in sales, demonstrating the project’s success and its impact on the beneficiaries.

Initially recording sales of $2,511 in December, the garden is expected to rake in an additional $600 from the current carrot harvest.

This success story highlights the importance of well managed community gardening projects in providing a sustainable livelihood for the poverty-stricken unemployed in challenging economic environments.

The garden has been a beacon of relief for the beneficiaries, who have been struggling to make ends meet. With the garden providing a steady source of income, as well as balanced nutrition, the project has enabled these individuals to achieve a sustainable livelihood and improve their overall quality of life.

The impact of the Mandlakhe extends beyond the financial benefits. The garden has also created a sense of community and camaraderie among the beneficiaries and the neighbouring residents, fostering a supportive environment where they can learn from one another and share their experiences.
