Sweet Solutions at Mustard Seed

Value addition of organic oranges to marmalade at Mustard Seed Communities.

The Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust (ZDDT) recently conducted a Value Addition training session at Mustard Seed Communities, focusing on the production of homemade marmalade jam.

This initiative is part of ZDDT’s broader mission to build sustainability through practical skills development.

Mustard Seed, a home to 46 resident children and provider of daily meals to over 900 children through outreach, welcomed the opportunity to explore value addition as a means of boosting nutrition and self-reliance.

The marmalade-making session introduced the team to low-cost food processing techniques that can extend shelf life and generate potential income.

Through this hands-on support, ZDDT continues to equip community organisations with tools for long-term impact, empowering them to meet growing demands while creating new possibilities for food security and livelihood generation.
