Tucked within the vibrant heart of Sizinda, Green Gardens flourishes as a verdant oasis and the bustling soul of the community, where the rich, dark earth yields, not just vegetables, but a thriving nexus of fellowship and commerce.

Its fertile beds, a tapestry of emerald greens and sun-kissed golds, regularly draw a diverse congregation of visitors: representatives from the Ministry of Women's Affairs in their crisp, formal attire, the Catholic church offering quiet blessings, and the energetic youth from the Latter-day Saints church, their laughter mingling with the hum of bees among the carrots and lush green chomoulier.

This garden is more than a mere collection of plants; it is a living, breathing crossroad where the community's spirit is cultivated alongside its crops.

Today’s visitor is none other than Mr. Magagula of the Bulawayo City Council, who is coaching market gardeners across the city in preparation for an upcoming competition when rival communities will compete for the top spot.

This will be in the form of the grand Field Day in to be held in October, a prestigious contest that will see their labours judged against the finest market gardens in the city.

Under his guidance, every trellis is to be straightened, every leaf polished to a gleaming sheen, transforming the already vibrant space into a potential champion, a living testament to community pride ready to be presented to the world.

The hopes and aspirations of the ZDDT gardening communities are high after years of commitment to continuous improvement, as they compare very favourably with other likely contestants.
