Theatre came alive with energy and passion as Lesley Masuku, ZDDT trainer, trained the Level 1 Geraldine Roche Arts Academy (GRAA) students, immersing them in the art of performance with remarkable dedication.

With patience and precision, he emphasised how the body, emotions and mind must work harmoniously in sync to create a powerful and convincing theatre performance.

His engaging approach highlighted the importance of stage utilisation, expressive emotions, and strong voice projection, ensuring that each student understood the delicate balance required to captivate an audience.

The session was not only informative but also deeply inspiring, as Lesley demonstrated techniques with clarity and enthusiasm.

"It is important for your body, soul and mind to be in sync for you to deliver a great performance in stage theatre. Your body has to be able to portray the emotion you are acting out to your audience," stressed Lesley.

During the practical exercises, the classroom buzzed with excitement as students eagerly participated in role-playing and constructive peer review sessions. They confidently explored their creativity, practising movement, experimenting with voice, and learning how to express emotions more effectively.

Lesley’s dynamic teaching style encouraged active involvement, making the training both interactive and enjoyable.

By the end of the session, the young performers walked away, not only more skilled but also more confident, carrying with them valuable lessons that will enrich their artistic journeys and elevate their future stage performances.

"The lessons are good and beneficial and are helping us to gain discipline and emphasise the importance of physical fitness and mental wellbeing in theatrical arts," commented Brett Mlilo, a level one student.
