In a move aimed at strengthening collaboration and accelerating preparations for the upcoming Sizinda Innovation Hub, Uncommon team leader Peter Kazickas this week visited ZDDT and Green Gardens to assess progress, engage with beneficiaries, and align development priorities.

He also toured the proposed site in Sizinda, where the hub’s containers will be positioned, gaining a clear view of the space set to host the community innovation centre.

The project aims to equip unemployed youth and young adults with the technology skills of the future.

There are no prerequisites to join, and Uncommon is open to all youth regardless of education or experience level. While tech literacy and employment are the primary goals, Uncommon’s programmes aim to promote the values of self-help and commitment to the broader community.

During the visit, Peter met gardeners and community members, witnessing the flourishing crops and the broader livelihoods initiatives that support youth and women’s empowerment.

The tour concluded with planning discussions with ZDDT staff to ensure the innovation hub’s programmes respond directly to community needs.

Both teams expressed optimism that the Sizinda Innovation Hub will become a vibrant space for digital literacy, creative problem-solving, and youth-led development in the community.
