City of Gweru and ZDDT set to continue fruitful partnership

This was revealed when Team ZDDT travelled and met with Gweru City Fathers and Officials. The meeting emphasised the two stakeholders working hand in glove in the restoration of the city, through direct contact with Community Based Planners and the community itself.

“I am honoured to officiate at this gathering of great importance. It is always a pleasure to note that our partners (ZDDT) are tirelessly exerting themselves in their quest to assist the City of Gweru and its residents. I am informed that the purpose of this meeting is to craft ways in which Council and ZDDT can work together in coming up with strategies and ways of advertising and publicising community projects using modern methods and social networks such as Facebook. I am hopeful that by the end of the meeting we will have come up with something that can be developed into very useful tools.” said the City of Gweru Deputy Mayor, Cllr Taurai Demo, when he was officially opening the meeting.

After the meeting, the Deputy Mayor expressed satisfaction as he noted that the issues discussed were vital for the restoration of Gweru and that he was grateful on behalf of the entire city.

ZDDT has been actively involved in Gweru for the last few years. It has donated 1 800 trees, tools for conducting clean-up campaigns and has sourced funding for the training of Councillors and the City Council personnel.

These interventions are grounded in ZDDT’s founding principles of promoting the spirit of volunteerism, empowering the communities through self-help projects and raising awareness on the importance of preserving the environment.
