The Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust (ZDDT) continues to roll out its impactful Value Addition Cooking Programme, with the latest session held at Green Gardens.

This time, community members were trained in marmalade jam production, a timely and strategic move for the garden, which is actively shifting focus toward income generation.

The session not only equipped participants with skills to create a market-ready product but also marked a crucial step in strengthening the MaSiziba brand, which represents the collective identity of ZDDT community gardens produce.

The jam-making initiative is set to diversify the product line, opening new revenue streams for the gardeners.

"This is more than just learning a recipe," noted Yvonne Bez, the ZDDT trainer on site. "It’s about empowering communities with practical skills that can translate directly into income and sustainability."

With strong potential for commercial uptake, the marmalade project is expected to enhance Green Gardens’ visibility in local markets while promoting food security through innovation and value addition.
