Bulawayo Residents Help School in Showcase of 'Ubuntu'
The ZDDT Community Action Team members said they decided to clean the field so as to enable their children to carry on with their sporting activities without any hindranceand to make the area look neat and tidy.
The school head, Mrs S Phiri, thanked the residents for showing such concern for the well-being of the students saying that this illustrates that they are a united community that contributes positivelyto the upbringing of their offspring.
“I am new in this school and community but I got very excited when I heard that the residents had asked for permission to slash grass and clear the grounds. This is a good thing because it will leave the school children will more time to practise and therefore excel in their different sporting activities,” said Mrs S Phiri.
This intervention, led by the ward’s Community Action Team, is a manifestation of the values and objectives of ZDDT, that emphasise community participation and ownership, values that both lead to unity.
