Bulawayo, Zimbabwe: Hundreds of Bulawayo community and several Civic Organisations have taken it upon themselves to clean the streets of Zimbabwe’s second largest city, in preparation for hosting the youth games which are to commence soon.
Representatives gathered at the City Hall’s car park to mark their beginning of a day devoted to making the city more presentable to visitors. The event was blessed by the Deputy Mayor Councillor, Gift Banda, who officiated as the guest of honour.
The event is part of an attempt to restore the once proud status of Bulawayo as the cleanest city in the Southern African region.
Residents, who gathered at the City Hall Car Park on Saturday, said the goal was to bring back the days when the “City of Kings” shone like a beacon of pride.
ZDDT partnered with the city’s administration and provided tools and mobilised councillors and their communities for participation on the day.
