Details of ZDDT and City of Bulawayo working relationship

Recently the Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust (ZDDT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the City of Bulawayo.

Since the inception of the Trust earlier in the year, there has been considerable cooperation between the two parties in tackling the many challenges that face the City and its residents.

As part of ZDDT’s Zimbabwe Re-build Programme, a number of positive initiatives are being put in place to restore infrastructure across the country.

The MOU, with the Municipality in Bulawayo, will provide for a more integrated approach and a closer working relationship. ZDDT will extend its Sebenzela programme throughout the city engaging local communities in self-help schemes. So far, 10 Community Action Teams (CATs) have been established and the balance of 19, is being prepared over the next few months. Headed by the Ward Councillor, these CATs clear vegetation, pick up litter and household refuse, dig drains and assist in dealing with the sewage crisis in conjunction with the city authorities.

In addition, these local community groups deal with social concerns, project development and business training in an effort to improve the quality of life of area residents.
