BCC and ZDDT to the rescue
Bulawayo, Zimbabwe: Portraying an excellent example in community responsibility, and rapid response to a social crisis (minor as it may seem), the Bulawayo City Council (BCC) and hands-on, people centred development organisation, ZDDT, showed their spunk, as they came to the rescue of Cllr. Ephraim Ncube (Ward 17) and his Community Action Team (CAT).
On Tuesday, 9 February, 2010, the Councillor needed tools and materials to carryout a clean up exercise in his area. The usual transport to convey these to the desired destination was not available; which prompted Cllr. Ncube to contact the local Housing Office.
An employee there immediately put a distress call through to senior Parks Officer, Mr. Ivan Ncube, at Municipal head office in the city centre. Within the hour a council truck arrived outside ZDDT’s front entrance, in town, where all the required equipment was loaded and ready to for transportation in a very short time.
Visibly delighted, Seven Sibanda, Ward CAT representative, remarked “In these difficult times, when red tape seems to mess up almost every attempt to get things done, it is good to see such efficiency.”
Indeed, very apt sentiments captured so well. Mr. Sibanda concluded his little speech with hearty thanks to the Bulawayo City Council and ZDDT.
