Bulawayo - Thanks to the Sally Foundation, ZDDT is very proudly presenting a new aspect of investment in the communities of Bulawayo.
Piggy-backing on the self-help garden and poultry projects, this value addition phase of the programme has evolved and with much excitement and enthusiasm.
Pickles, conserves, relishes, jams, dried fruit and veg, as well as delicious and nutritious meal recipes, made up of locally grown raw materials, are being produced in training sessions at Entembeni Home in Luveve.
Liz and Yvonne, pictured with a ZDDT Field Officer, Maria, have demonstrated their creative prowess in delivering their subjects to excite the trainees from across the townships of Bulawayo.
The ‘Train the Trainer’ concept will see these ladies going back to their respective wards to impart their recently acquired skills to their colleagues.
At the same time, market stalls are being constructed to be erected at each of the garden sites to provide a facility to sell the produce to local residents.
This value addition programme will increase the profitability of the gardens and improve household income. Funded by the Sally Foundation and facilitated by GDG
