Bulawayo City Councillors attend Participatory Planning in Project Development workshop
Attendance was fairly good at fifty eight percent, While facilitation was conducted by Janet Kenyon, (M. Phil.), assisted by the ZDDT Bulawayo Provincial Development Officer, Bruce Mtengwa. Describing the objectives of the training, Mrs. Kenyon remarked; “The workshop, is essentially intended to raise awareness and allow participants to discover their own potential and creativity. “ In actual fact I would prefer to call it, ‘Democracy in Practice.’”
Replying to a question about the projected benefits of the workshop among local communities, Mr. Mtengwa said;
“Training is expected to enhance project development through its participatory concept.
“In this manner, information gained by beneficiaries, may be utilised to effectively implement restorative work that the Trust encourages through its programmes in the local communities.”
In consensus with these sentiments Cllr. P. Z. Ndlovu, Ward Fourteen commented; “This training will definitely go a long way towards enabling local leaders to involve the whole community to plan for project development in their respective neighbourhoods.”
