ZDDT High-Impact Intervention

During one of ZDDT's cooking classes at Ekuphumuleni Geriatric Nursing Home, the organisation noticed that another donor had refurbished the kitchen but also became aware that the utensils being used were old and had run their lifetime.

The staff had been making do with what they had, but it was clear that this situation was proving problematic and hindered the preparation of the many meals to be served each day.

Realising the plight of the kitchen staff, ZDDT quickly organized to provide kitchenware and utensils for the home. The donation arrived at Ekuphumuleni at an opportune time, and the kitchen staff expressed their gratitude, saying it would make their work much easier.

The new kitchenware and utensils were immediately put to use, and the excited kitchen staff got to work preparing food for seven elderly residents who were celebrating their birthdays that day.

Swiftly and effortlessly the food was ready in no time.

Those celebrating their birthdays were overjoyed and, after savouring their delicious meal, they could not stop thanking the kitchen staff who, in turn, praised ZDDT. The elderly residents could now enjoy their meals in relative comfort.

It is part of ZDDT’s mandate to inject lump sums to intervene at short notice where the need is most in order to achieve maximum impact in improving the lives of the needy.
