The start of the new year has brought a wave of excitement and anticipation for the Geraldine Roche Drama, as it embarks on a new journey with the introduction of an intensive skills and arts development programme.

This is aimed at nurturing and honing the talents of budding youth who have either just completed their academic studies or are currently exploring their options in the performing arts industry.

The programme, which is designed to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of the performance industry, will cover a wide range of topics, including drama, film production, and other related aspects of the arts business.

This well-rounded approach is expected to better prepare the participants for their future careers in the arts, radio, television and commercial advertising, supported by a full certification process on acquiring a satisfactory skill level.

Theory and Practical Training

To be known as the Geraldine Roche Arts Academy, intensive skills and arts development is the combination of theoretical and practical training. Participants will, not will only gain knowledge through lectures and discussions but will also be given the opportunity to apply their learnings through hands-on experiences.

“This approach ensures that the participants are well-versed in both the theoretical and practical aspects of the performance industry, making them more attractive candidates for potential employers and giving them a competitive edge in the highly competitive arts business,” commented Mazwe Ndlovu, the lead tutor.

Enhancing Career Prospects

Mr Tafadzwa Masviba, the Project Coordinator, stated that, “the ultimate goal of the Geraldine Roche Drama’s intensive skills and arts development program is to provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their chosen field. By offering a comprehensive curriculum that covers all aspects of the performance industry, the programme aims to equip participants with an overall view of the industry, enabling them to make informed decisions about their future careers.”

Upon completion of the courses, participants will be better prepared to enter the workforce and contribute to the growth and development of the arts industry. The focus on practical training and certified industry-relevant skills will ensure that the participants are well-equipped to face the challenges that they may encounter in their professional lives making them attractive to potential employers.
