Green Gardens in Sizinda, Bulawayo, had the unique honour of hosting the Australian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Zambia and the DRC, Mrs. Minoli Perera.

This momentous visit was an ideal opportunity to showcase the outstanding progress the 120 beneficiaries had made in their community.

During her visit, Mrs Perera toured the productive garden and met with the garden committee members and a dedicated ZDDT team.

It was a joyous occasion filled with insightful discussions about successful initiatives that had been implemented and have resulted in improved food access, nutrition and income for the community members. It was mentioned to her that her embassy had assisted with DAP funding to set up the garden a decade ago.

Mrs. Perera expressed her deep appreciation for the achievements that have been accomplished so far. She highlighted how impressed the project has become self-sustaining, a remarkable feat that is not easy to attain. This acknowledgement of their hard work and dedication truly uplifted the gardeners’ spirits!

This visit reaffirms our collective mission to enhance food security and empower communities through innovative market gardening solutions.
