The Chairman of the Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust (ZDDT), Mr Christopher Matumbike, visited Bulawayo, coinciding with Sally Foundation’s Mike Roche’s annual trip to assess ZDDT-led initiatives, the Community Market Gardens project and the Geraldine Roche Arts Academy.
During the visit, the Chairman toured two community gardens, addressed beneficiaries and met with the local Councillor, commending their efforts in combating poverty amid economic challenges.
The Community Gardens Project, a key ZDDT initiative, has provided food security and income opportunities for residents.
The Chairman praised the community’s resilience and innovation, urging continued collaboration to sustain and expand these efforts. He also discussed the Geraldine Roche Arts Academy with the ZDDT team, highlighting its role in empowering youth through arts education.
The Chairman encouraged all stakeholders involved to build on the progress made, emphasising that ZDDT’s commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment could not be achieved without the Sally Foundation's ongoing social investment.
His visit underscored the importance of collective action in improving livelihoods despite economic hardships.
