Kitchen Garden Gets Its Kitchen

Green Gardens in Sizinda has reached another exciting milestone with the recent approval from City authorities to operate a licensed kitchen within the garden premises.

This official recognition not only affirms the project's success but also marks a significant step forward in its journey toward sustainability and community empowerment.

The kitchen is set to become a vital income-generating venture for the garden, with 90% of the ingredients sourced directly from the plots, ensuring freshness and reducing operational costs.

This closed-loop model adds value to the produce while creating opportunities for employment, skill-building and local food sales. The approval highlights how urban agriculture can go beyond food production to become a hub for innovation, enterprise and community pride.

This success story demonstrates the value of ZDDT’s partnership with Sally Foundation and the Global Development Group, which aims to embed the principles of self-help and sustainability in the minds and actions of targeted communities.
