Six brand new ride-on mowers and twelve brush-cutters were put to the test on the verges along a well used road outside the stadium by teams of City Cleansing Services workers, resplendent in their bright orange overalls and other safety wear; also donated by the Trust.
The exercise was part of the ZDDT initiated Local Authority Capacity Building Programme that receives funding from development agency GIZ, cooperating with the German Government.
The particular venue was specifically selected as a means to allow the public maximum visibility of the demonstration, enabling them to see the change that is taking place in the heart of the community through restoration of parks, common areas and infrastructure. The objective of this Project is to improve living conditions of ordinary people in the city by enhancing the capacity of the City of Bulawayo for effective service delivery.
