Bulawayo communities intensify efforts to make roads safer
CAT Leaders revealed this development during ZDDT Zone Meetings and the Trust’s Field Correspondent also witnessed the work when he was monitoring various projects around the city recently.
“We constructed a speed hump in the Hlalanikuhle section of Cowdray recently” reported Ward 28 CAT Leader, Vusa Charles Chirwa.
Wards 9, 10, 15 and 16 reported that they had conducted pothole-filling exercises whilst Wards 12, 13 and 14 were organising with the Local authority to cut all overgrown grass on road intersections.
Meanwhile, ZDDT is supporting these community restoration efforts by lending out its main tool kit to augment those already provided to the City’s wards.
Councillors have welcomed this development, saying it will go a long way in speeding up the work being carried out in cooperation with the Council’s engineering department.
As part of the Trust’s Sebenzela programme, the coordinated cooperation of residents, their representatives and council is encouraged, which in turn, supports the One Community, One City concept.
