Bulawayo Residents Buy into Voluntary Clean-Up Campaigns
“This is a very good initiative and I am very touched and moved by some people actually take their time to clean our neighbourhoods on a voluntary basis. I am glad because, by removing litter from the streets, they are curbing any possible outbreak of diseases and they are ensuring that our children live in a clean and healthy environment,” said Mrs Moyo.
Mrs Moyo was passing by an area in which the CAT was conducting a clean-up exercise, together with the residents, in Nkulumane 5 (W24), when ZDDT the Field Correspondent caught up with her.
This concerted effort by the residents of W24, is a clear manifestation of ZDDT’s objectives of emboldening communities to develop self-expression, encourage inclusivity and enhance citizen participation by taking total responsibility and ownership of their environment.
