Bulawayo's Nkulumane residents get cleaning
“We have called on all section leaders in our ward to coordinate and mobilise residents in their sections so that it becomes easy to hold an inclusive activity such as a clean-up campaign,” said Ward 23 CAT leader, Beauty Sibanda.
One of the section leaders, Mrs Odah Mlalazi, expressed enthusiasm and a great zeal for work saying that keeping the environment clean is an integral part of the people’s culture and therefore should be upheld.

“I am happy that I have been approached because this is a really good thing. When an area is dirty, it seems like we are animals but I am glad that we have come together to clean our community as this brings back our dignity and humanity,” said the Chairperson for Qoki Makhelwane section.
This is in line with ZDDT’s principles of cultivating inclusivity and encouraging citizen participation as tools to achieve unity. This is also seen as a way of promoting tolerance, a prerequisite in the transition to a democratic society.
