Kirimuva Gardens Receive Visit from Australian Parliamentary Delegation

This ZDDT self-help project, under the banner of Sebenzela Zimbabwe, is a shining light in the darkness, as evidenced by the official visit of top international dignitaries.

ZDDT’s National Development Officer (NDO) welcomed the guests and introduced them to the ever-green Kirimuva, before Edward Chikwayi, the project’s Agricultural Extension Officer, and the gardens chairman took the visitors on a tour.

It was a moment of delight amid a round of applause from both visitors and the community when NDO Mr Simon Spooner related what a community member, Jethro Mangena, had said, “What you the Australians did for us, was giving us a fishing rod rather than fish, because we are now able to fend for ourselves as a community, than to always ask for fish every time.”

Mr. Mangena repeated this statement once more, that same morning, and he was given another round of applause by the Australian delegation.

Kirimuva Gardens are a good example of self-made success and the application of modern farming methods.

Recently, the garden community requested Sebenzela Zimbabwe to assist them with the development of their website and Facebook page, which was successfully launched.  

The nutritional garden has now gone international, courtesy of ZDDT’s Information and Publicity section.
