Australian Delegation Receive Hearty Bulawayo Welcome at Kirimuva Garden
Bulawayo - The welcome song to Australian delegation, ‘asibambaneni, sibemuntumunye, njengeamajuba’ which literally means, 'lets unite and become one person like what the doves do,' took the Australian delegation by storm, as they could not contain their joy and excitement over the song.
The delegation, which had a tight schedule, joined the Bulawayo’s Kirimuva community nutritional garden in dancing and singing, thereby temporarily bringing all business to halt, as the spirit of love and unity overwhelmed the ceremony.
The chanting and singing took almost ten minutes, before the Australian delegation could be introduced to the gathering.
According to Jethro Mangena, who is also the chairman of this self-help project, “We are at a loss for words as to how we can express our gratitude to our honourable guests.
But only to say, the love spirit that has been always on ZDDT’s agenda in their work shops, has been the source of this happiness. I am overwhelmed with joy and will remain in this mode as long as I am with Kirimuva and stay in the ward.”
Asked to comment, Mr. Simon Spooner ZDDT’s National Development Officer said, “This project has restored the dignity of this community who have discovered the value of self-help and empowerment as they no longer have to depend on anyone else ensuring that they are their own masters”.
His sentiments were echoed by Sebenzela-Shandira’s Regional Coordinator and Projects Manager Ms Angela Mason.
