Midlands community leaders in conflict training exercise

Gweru has eighteen wards; each presided over by an elected Councillor.
The idea is to provide this particular training to one leader from every ward in a series covering three workshops. First in the series is the one being profiled in this article.
Facilitation at the workshop was conducted by Denny Munestsi, a former secondary school teacher, who has now turned to civic activism.
Utilising a uniquely robust motivational training technique, Mr. Munetsi expertly guided participants through their paces. Stressing a point, he stated that the training was meant to, besides several other important things, encourage residents to pay their dues to the local authority and thereby avoid possible conflict situations.
Giving an example, Mr. Munetsi remarked; “Through its various interventions – clean-ups, for example – the Trust is saving residents money they would normally use to rectify dirt related problems. Such savings could very likely enable members in the community to pay their dues, thus releasing funds for the local authority to provide adequate service delivery systems.”
Proceedings at the half-day workshop were rounded off with a group photograph session, followed by lunch.
