Mahatshula, Ward Three tree planting
Going by indications at the scene, it was apparent that the voluntary workers involved, were thoroughly enjoying themselves, as was Cllr. Martin Moyo, the incumbent.
Making comment about the activities, Cllr. Moyo said. “The exercise that we are conducting here is very important in the sense that, besides beautifying a piece of land that is an eye-sore, we are creating a positive legacy for future generations to own and be proud of.”
A hundred trees were allocated to this particular exercise and by lunch-time, most of the saplings had been planted. Residents then went home secure in the knowledge that they would soon return, on another day to complete the task of planting.
The tree-planting activities being coordinated by ZDDT in the cities of Bulawayo and Gweru, is part of a programme entitled Enhancing Service Delivery for Local Authorities, which is supported by GIZ, cooperating with the German Government.
