The St. Peters community of Pumula is seeking the assistance of aid organisations to help establish a new market garden project.

The Zimbabwe Development and Democracy Trust (ZDDT) recently made a site visit to St Peter's, located in Hyde Park Pumula, to meet the proposed beneficiaries.

Initial objectives include the testing for the presence of water in one of the existing wells, says Reverend Mkosana, who heads the project.

"We are not looking for a donor, but we are looking for a donor partner who is going to assist us on things which we can't do for ourselves, for example pumping water from underground. The issue of community gardens started long back in the 1970s when we were using municipal water but when there was a depletion of water sources the municipality
stopped this because of the shortages of water,” he said.

"Recently I visited Kirimuva Garden in Old Pumula, and I was very impressed by what I saw there. I decided to break the news to our community here about having a similar garden here because we have a well here which was dug when I was 10 years old by the Germans,” he said.
