ZDDT continues seeking to improve lives in Gweru
Denny said the interventions that ZDDT, in conjunction with the Local Authority (Gweru City Council), community members and other charities, has brought to the Midlands capital have improved the lives of many people in numerous ways.
“When we commenced work in Gweru, there were a number of pupils who were being chased from schools, so we introduced gardens so that the children, together with their parents, can operate them and raise school fees. Now quite a number of these pupils are no longer being sent away for school fees because they can now afford to pay their fees.
Furthermore, the clean-up campaigns have made Gweru look different. Normally town have clean-ups once in October but we as ZDDT in Gweru are conducting clean-ups on a more regular basis,” said Denny emphatically.
The Trust has been working with 6 of the 18 Wards in Gweru. The interventions that ZDDT has been implementing in the City of Progress include the administration of nutritional gardens, the planting of trees, environmental cleaning campaigns and the improvement of service delivery by the LA through skills training in relevant fields.
“ZDDT has helped the LA to improve Service Delivery in a great way. First and foremost, there were workshops that were held in Customer Care, so the delivery in the revenue halls has improved drastically,” he said.
ZDDT has also been actively involved in training Councillors in important aspects such as Servant Leadership.
