ZDDT, CompuPro in cash donation to Bulawayo carer
Sikhangele Ncube is a trained and experienced nurse who has worked for the past six years at Thembelihle House, an institution that cares for HIV/AIDS patients at an advanced stage of the illness.
Ncuve would, under normal circumstances, receive her salary regularly at the end of every month. However, mid last year, that arrangement came to an abrupt end, when the donor responsible for the institution’s staff support programme, decided to discontinue paying salaries.
As a result, staff members at the care centre were plunged into distressing financial difficulties, which consequently forced some to quit their jobs, while others had to seek supplementary means to sustain themselves and their families. Because of her dedication to the care of sick people, Mrs. Ncube decided to remain. Having a husband and four children to support, it is not difficult to imagine the challenges that this brave woman has to contend with.
Unable to bear the stress brought about by this situation, she approached her local Councillor, Mr. Elmon Mpofu, Ward 9, who then referred her to the Trust. Bruce Mtengwa, Bulawayo PDO at ZDDT, presented a cash donation to Mrs. Ncube on behalf of local firm, CompuPro, whose representative could not attend, and who would normally make the handover.
The Business Social Credit Scheme is a humanitarian initiative designed and implemented by the Trust, with the cooperation of local Councillors. Its intention is to bring relief to very needy people in relevant communities. CompuPro are the scheme’s principal supporters.
