ZDDT looks to take Bulawayo Wards online

Known as “The Integrated CAT Information System (ICIS),” the scheme ensues from weeks of careful planning by ZDDT‘s office team. It is expected that funding, courtesy of ECEZ, will enable a two way flow of vital community information to accelerate development. In its initial stages, the plan entails establishing an E-mail address in each Ward. Thereafter, every one of these would receive funding for internet access, together with a ‘flash drive’ or ‘memory stick’ for data storage. The money would enable residents in their particular areas to utilise 2 hours online time each week.

Mr. Spooner said that, once the scheme becomes fully operational, there would be a good probability of expanding the concept in urban areas nationwide. Those concerned would eventually be able to use such facilities for communicating further afield, but more essentially, they’d have the opportunity to pay utility bills and other expenses without the need to travel long distances.
