Local leadership training bearing fruit
However, due to a procedural hitch, the team was unable to conduct the planned activity. It was while waiting in the Councillor’s office, housed at the Centre, that the Trust’s Field Correspondent struck gold.
Fixed on a wall to one side hung a large black-board. It was the writing on this board that pointed to the positive effect of the Trust’s community leadership enhancement initiatives. The black-board is used by the local Councillor and his CAT, as a tool for mapping areas of need in the ward and provides a basis for intervening planning strategies. The Trust imparts such skills, in specific leadership training it provides.
Since the incumbent was away at an engagement of national importance, his assistant, Mr. Moses Dube represented him. Responding to an inquiry relating to the chart in question, Mr. Dube remarked; “What you see on the board is evidence of skills gained from training given by your organisation, (ZDDT). As a result, the local leadership is better armed to effectively deal with issues that need urgent attention. “It has made our task easier and we are certainly thankful for this.”
