Despite being unable to travel to Bulawayo in person, Geraldine Roche, co-founder of Sally Foundation, was able to connect with students of the newly established Geraldine Roche Arts Academy through two engaging video calls.

The academy, a project spearheaded by the Sally Foundation, aims to equip young aspiring artists with the skills and expertise needed to excel in various aspects of drama and film production.

During the virtual meetings, students had the opportunity to interact directly with Geraldine, sharing their experiences, challenges and aspirations. They expressed how the programme was positively impacting their lives, providing them with valuable training and opportunities that were currently not being offered in the city.

Geraldine, in turn, offered words of encouragement and shared her passion for working with young people and supporting their development. Her dedication to fostering artistic talent and empowering youth was evident in her enthusiastic engagement with the students.

The Geraldine Roche Arts Academy, a testament to the Sally Foundation’s commitment to youth empowerment, is poised to become a hub for artistic excellence in Bulawayo. The academy’s innovative curriculum, coupled with the unwavering support of figures like Geraldine, promises to nurture a new generation of talented artists who will contribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of Zimbabwe.
