ZDDT donates to needy institutions
Aboce: ZDDT Field Correspondent (with orange vest) hands a food donation to Sister E Sibanda.
The former is a nursery school that caters for children orphaned by the AIDS pandemic and the off-spring of parents incapacitated by illness, while the latter takes care of patients in the advanced stages of the disease.
Presenting 16 litres of cooking oil and 10 kilogrammes of salt to the school’s principal, Mrs. Mpumelelo Fuzwane, Bruce Mtengwa, ZDDT’s Bulawayo Provincial Development Officer, remarked:
“The food we are handing over is the surplus from a feeding scheme that the Trust ran a short while ago, but which is now defunct. It is my opinion that it would be criminal to allow these supplies to rot on our shelves while there are people out there who are in desperate need.”
Expressing gratitude for the donation, Mrs. Fuzwane said. “Our Centre remained closed after the school holidays ended, due to lack of food for the children. We are most grateful for this donation. It will go towards assisting us to eventually reopen the centre. May God bless you?”
Sister in Charge at Thembelihle House, Mrs. E. Sibanda, Received the Centre’s quota of donated food-stuffs also consisting of 16 litres cooking oil and 10 kilogrammes of salt. Thanking Team ZDDT, Sr. Sibanda stated that the donation would assist in the institution’s quest to provide a balanced diet for patients.
