BULAWAYO – Some of Luveve Ward 15’s impoverished families recently shed tears of relief after receiving, what they described as a timely gift, from ZDDT’s Business Social Credit Scheme (BSCS) after having gone for several years without a meaningful livelihood.

The families, who were discovered by Councillor Thamani Moyo, Primrose Madziva (26), Ester Songwe (73), Martha Zulu who is deaf and dumb (81), Simon Jele (82) and Trust Mlalazi (43) who is disabled, received the donation at Luveve Housing offices amid ululation from the beneficiaries.

Talking to ZDDT News Correspondent, soon after receiving the gift, the recipients spoke about how they are going to immediately start vending, since they have received funding to kick start.

“We are all in cloud 9 with joy, as we have no suitable words to thank you ZDDT and your partners. We can only tell you that he who gives someone a fishing rod, is he who everlastingly empowers the underprivileged, as we are going to fish for ourselves, rather than receiving a fish we just eat for only one day,” they said.

Luveve’s Ward 15 Councillor and community leader also heaped praise on the Trust and Freight Consultancy, a ZDDT business partner, for remembering the vulnerable in her ward.

“I am humbled by your gift; please don’t forget us when you next coordinate other donations, as you have seen for yourself what the donation has done to us. God bless you and add more, where the gift was taken from,” said Councillor Moyo.

BSCS is aimed at bringing relief to the disadvantaged and is a key element in the Trust’s social responsibility programme, drawing the local business fraternity closer to the community.
