BULAWAYO – Belleview Junior Soccer Academy, in Ward 6, has been bailed out with cash to ease their plight, courtesy of ZDDT’s Business Social Credit Scheme, partnered by Freight Consultancy and other businesses.

The Academy, which was established by three young school leavers, is currently composed of 48 disadvantaged children, aged 14 to 18, who failed to raise funds to further their education.

The 48 young aspiring soccer trainees are aiming to penetrate the professional soccer world to gain employment.

Edgar Madungwe, who is the founding member, and his partner Zibusizo Dube, received the donation from Councillor Thabitha Ngwenya in the presence of Mr Pilani Sibanda, who is Freight Consultancy Import Manager.

In an interview with ZDDT News soon after the presentation, Belleview Junior Academy representatives, praised the Trust for the donation.

“It is essential for companies and organisations to consider the less fortunate in society, and we are grateful that we are now going to buy soccer balls, and look forward to another donation of football kits and boots. Thank you very much

ZDDT and Freight Consultancy. You have opened the gates and broken the poverty wall which was bedevilling us,” smiled the two.

Their sentiments were echoed by Councillor Thabitha Ngwenya, who received the donation on behalf of the beneficiaries, before handing it to them.

ZDDT’s Business Social Credit Scheme programme is aimed at bringing relief to the disadvantaged and is an important instrument in the Trust’s social responsibility interventions. The local business fraternity is encouraged to pledge assistance to the less fortunate in society.
