After seeing a home for the destitute being established at the nearby Thorngrove, Mariyeti Mpala, of Tshabalala Extension, felt inspired to something as well for the elderly in Sizinda and Tshabalala townships of Bulawayo.
Over the past weekend, residents from Bulawayo’s Ward 2 teamed-up and tidied up Athlone Cemetery situated in North End, a suburb on the airport road.
Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust (ZDDT), which enjoys good relations with the Bulawayo City Council (BCC), recently donated water glasses and jugs to the latter.
Ward 1, which covers the city centre, received a boost when two of its oldies benefited from ZDDT’s monthly Business Social Credit Scheme (BSCS).
Bulawayo’s Ward 24 councillor, Gideon Mangena, scooped the prestigious Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust (ZDDT) 2017 Councillor of the Year Award, at a colourful ceremony held in the city recently.
